Boys Basketball Fast Break and Defense was Key
By George Snyder
The Gilpin County boy’s basketball team fired up their fast break and their pressing defense to upset favored Longmont Christian 44-34 in a non-conference game at the home gym last Friday. The win brought their 5-game losing streak from January to a halt and raised their season record to 6-9. The importance of the game was that prospective league member Longmont Christian has been seeded 6th in the upcoming 5280 League Tournament later this month. Gilpin County currently holds last place in the 5280 League with three league games left to go. The Eagles were not winless in January, as reported in last week’s article. They defeated South Park 53-48 at home on January 10.
