Fair volunteers thanked

Recreation Coordinator,

Gilpin County Parks and

The 2025 Gilpin County fair

was a huge event, drawing

thousands of people into Gilpin

County July 11-13, and Gilpin

County Parks and Recreation

could not have done it without a

plethora of amazing volunteers.

More than 50 volunteers

joined the Parks and Recreation

staff along with the Fair Com-

mittee to ensure that all events

went off smooth and efficient-

ly. Between setup, cleaning,

signage and running of events,

volunteers combined for more

than 500 hours of time for the

fair.

A special 14 individuals, led

by Derek Blake, were crucial

in the inaugural Gilpin County

Mining Competition. Blake and

others helped plan, fundraise,

set up and run the competition

to perfection. This event was a

hit with dozens of competitions

and winner in different events

and classifications for youth,

women and men’s groups.

More than a dozen sign-up

genius volunteers assisted in

various tasks such as dance

floor setup, signs, fair cleanup

and run various events like

Fabric and Fiber Arts and Big

Top entertainment. Other vol-

unteers led the Gymkhana, Red

Neck Relay and barn activities.

Another special thank you

goes out to the Blue Knights

Law-Enforcement Motorcycle

Club Chapter Colorado 1 led by

Harry Nimrod and Dave Seper,

for their assistance with park-

ing. The Blue Knights support

the Talley Fund. Erik Talley was

a Boulder police officer who

was killed in the King Soopers

shooting in Boulder a few years

ago. Money from donations go

directly to the family.

Saturday, Aug. 23 – High School volleyball at Lake

County (Leadville). The C-team will play at 11 a.m., followed

by jayvees at noon and varsity at 1 p.m. High school football

scrimmage at West Grand, 11 a.m.

Monday, Aug. 25 – Middle school football at St. Mary’s

in Colorado Springs, 4:30 p.m. Middle school volleyball at

Bennett. The C-team plays at 4:30 p.m., followed by the B

and A-teams at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., respectively.

Wednesday, Aug. 27 – International travel meeting

from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school atrium.

Friday, Aug. 29 – High school volleyball at the East

Grand tournament in Kremmling. The Eagles will play West

Grand at 1 p.m. and Clear Creek at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. On

Saturday, the team will play Peyton at 9:30 a.m. and Ce

daredge at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30.

Saturday, Aug. 30 – High school football hosts St.

Mary’s of Colorado Springs, 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 2 – Middle school football hosts Byers,

4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 3 – High school volleyball at Estes

Park. Time TBA.

Thursday, Sept. 4 – Middle school volleyball at Kiowa,

beginning at 4 p.m. with the C-team match.

Friday, Sept. 5 – Teacher in-service day.

Saturday, Sept. 6 – High school jayvee volleyball at

Strausburg tournament. Time TBA.

NOTE – Schedules are tentative and may change due to a

variety of factors, including weather.

‘25 season a rebuilding year for volleyball team

High School’s girls’ volleyball

team will rebuild this season,

it will endeavor to continue

the winning tradition it’s es-

tablished the past few years.

“I graduated six of my seven

starters from last year,” said

Coach Christopher Rouse. “I

will be trying to replace the

players who graduated with

members from the JV team

from last year. There will be a

lot of new faces on the court.”

Senior Elise Vincent, an

outside hitter, will be the

sole returning starter for the

Eagles in 2025.

The varsity roster is expect-

ed to include seniors Jadie

DiMauro, outside hitter; Adele

Fisher, right side and setter;

Maddy Sutton, libero and de-

fensive specialist, and Vincent.
