Gilpin Arts displays incredible talent in Central City
By David Josselyn
Gilpin Arts in Central City is celebrating 69 years of juried distinction in the fine arts as Colorado’s oldest juried art show. More than 70 artists submitted up to five entries a piece for consideration of admission to the show. Professional art jurors then selected from the submissions only pieces they judged worthy to be included which were in turn ordered in excellence from first to third. Each juror also submitted one piece from each category to be considered for Best in Show. The categories this year are 2D (two-dimensional: pastels, oils, etc.), 3D (three-dimensional: sculptures, fabric, glasswork, etc.), and photography. In addition, awards were also given in specifically jewelry, watercolors, and pastels.
