There seems to be no end to the books that are published in various genre fiction. One of the best romance writers, Danielle Steel, continues to crank out winners. (Her list of titles is approaching 100, and 600 million copies of her books have been sold all over the world.) Her legion of fans, and those reading her for the first time, are never disappointed. Her newest novel is called First Sight, and it revolves around fictional American fashion designer Timmie O’Neill. Timmie’s renowned line, Timmi O, is “the embodiment of casual chic, in fashion and for the home.” She’s got everything she wants in business, but there is a big hole in her life when it comes to an intimate relationship. Willing to take risks in business, she shies away from risk then it comes to her heart. In Paris for Paris Fashion Week, Timmie becomes ill, and must be attended by a French physician, Jean-Charles Vernier. Their patient/doctor relationship seems routine at first, but they both sense a spark that neither had expected. They become confidants and friends, and, after Timmie returns home to Los Angeles, they correspond regularly. Will they dare to take the risks that go with falling in love? They are from two very different worlds, and they are each as strong-willed as the other. In the hands of a storyteller like Danielle Steel, their romance is an entertaining and satisfying read.
