For Gilpin County Commissioner District 3
PRESS RELEASE – Sandy Hollingsworth announces her candidacy for Gilpin County Commissioner District 3. Sandy has lived in Colorado for 37 years, 22 of them in Gilpin County with her husband Larry. She grew up in a family active in public service and earned a Social Work degree from University of Iowa. Sandy worked as a caseworker with people from diverse backgrounds, then for Boulder Housing and Human Services for 25 years, including Acting Manager of Senior Services. She gained experience with policymaking, budget management, employee engagement, strategic planning, and program development.
After moving to Gilpin County, Sandy became involved in the community as a Greater Rollinsville Community Association officer, forest stewardship groups volunteer, CSU Extension Master Gardener, and the first Extension Advisory Committee. She serves on the Gilpin County Senior Living Board, Access to Healthcare Coalition, High Country Auxiliary, and volunteers for Gilpin County and Nederland Food Banks, Peak to Peak Rotary, Mountain Mask Project, and in the community during the Coronavirus pandemic.
