In-home homicide and suicide
PRESS RELEASE – On January 20, 2021, the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an altercation with shots fired in the 900 block of Vernon Drive in Central City, CO. Upon the sheriff’s office arrival, after receiving no response to their attempted contact with the residents, deputies made entry into the home and found a deceased male and female. The deceased parties have been identified as Leah Carlene Knowlton, 28, and Edward Alexander Hayton, 26, both of Central City. On Friday, January 22, 2021, forensic autopsies were performed and the findings are consistent with homicide and suicide.
