Barbara Lawlor remembered

June 7, 1942 – November 3, 2018

Barbara Lawlor of Nederland, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Barbara was a resident of Nederland and had worked at The Mountain-Ear newspaper for more than 36 years, and for the Weekly Register-Call at one time.
She was a beloved mother, sister, friend and colleague and will be dearly missed by all.
During her life and work as a journalist, Barbara connected to thousands of people across the peaks. Her documentation of local mountain life has been enormous and an amazing task. Her contribution to the community through her award winning writing and photography reached readers across the globe.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Harriet Blumberg; survived by her sisters Mary Moon and Bonnie Williamson, and brother Charles Blumberg. She is survived by her four children Eric, Bryan, Annie, and Elizabeth Lawlor.
An initial memorial at the Calvary Chapel Church located at 275 W 2nd Street, Nederland, CO 80466, will take place on November 17 at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Friends, family and colleagues will be organizing an additional celebration for Barbara in June 2019. Look forward to a more extensive tribute to Barbara Lawlor in future editions, one that not only covers her life as a journalist but also everything she contributed over decades, to the peak to peak community.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Peak to Peak Communities Project, Barbara Lawlor Memorial Scholarship. Donations will be given to a graduating high school senior, pursuing a degree in Journalism. Donations may be sent to PPHCP at PO Box 668, Nederland, CO 80466. Additional scholarship information will be announced in an upcoming issue of The Mountain-Ear.
