December 19, 1957 – December 29, 2017
Debra Krause, 60, passed away on December 29, 2017 at her home in Lake Montezuma, Arizona. She was born Debra Jean Soucy to Marilyn and William Soucy on December 19, 1957. She is survived by three sons, Duncan, Justin and Josh, and one daughter, Emma.
Debbie was a long-time Central City resident, managing room rentals at the Kruse Mansion for her stepfather when she first arrived. She started reporting for the Weekly Register-Call in 1993. She became editor in 1999, holding that position until the paper was sold after the death of publisher William C. Russell, Jr. in 2009. During her tenure at the Register-Call, she earned the nickname “Deb Doright” for her own ethical behavior, and her insistence on the same from all she knew.
