Through local Farmers Insurance agent

The Peak to Peak Rotary Club received a $1,000 grant from Farmers Insurance Exchange Co. in their ongoing effort to assist in local communities. The grant was applied for by Rebecca Shirey, a local Farmers Insurance Agent, who has been a resident for nearly 30 years in Mid-Gilpin County and has her agency, Becky Shirey Farmers Insurance Agency, in Golden, Co.

Peak to Peak Rotary Club was established in Gilpin County in 2002 and has served residents in Gilpin County during that time. Peak to Peak Rotary concentrates on local projects and has provided scholarships to two graduating seniors each year from local high schools. Peak to Peak Rotary has adopted the Dictionary program, providing dictionaries to each third grader in both Gilpin and Nederland Elementary Schools. Last year, Peak to Peak Rotary joined with other Clubs in District 5450, which include clubs from Evergreen, Conifer, Mtn. Foothills, Clear Creek County, in participating in the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Project. The Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until they begin school in participating areas. If you would like to enroll your child in this program, please contact one of the Peak to Peak members or send a note to P O Box 512, Black Hawk, Co. 80422. There are still a few openings available.
